A Christmas Ride Tradition

For the past six years, we’ve kept a simple tradition alive, an annual Christmas Day ride with one of our closest friend, Brian. Over the years, it hasn’t always looked the same. There were seasons when one of us couldn’t ride, whether due to injury or pregnancy (yes, really). But no matter what, we’ve always looked forward to it. The ride isn’t just about the miles, it’s about showing up, together, year after year.

This year felt like Santa was especially kind to Georgia riders. Somehow, Christmas weekend landed right in that perfect 75–78 degree window, and we took full advantage of every bit of it.

On Wednesday, all three of us rode up to Lake Lanier and enjoyed lunch right next to the water. Thursday, Christmas Day, just the two of us rode into the next county for a quick lunch. Then on Saturday, we headed up toward Anderson, South Carolina. We stopped by the lake along the way to snap a few photos, grabbed lunch (which wasn’t great), but honestly it didn’t matter. The weather was perfect. The ride was perfect.

Most years, Christmas riding means bundling up and braving the cold. This year was different. It may have been the nicest Christmas riding we’ve ever had, and it definitely left us feeling a little jealous of riders in warmer climates who get to ride year-round.

We hope everyone enjoyed their time off, and we hope some of you got the chance to get out and ride too. Until next year.
