Running an Online Women's Motorcycle Gear Company From Athens, GA

Running an online motorcycle gear company from Athens, Georgia there are certain questions we get asked over and over again.

  • "So, where's your store?"

  • "Do you have a warehouse?"

  • "Can I come by and shop?"

It's understandable. When people hear that we make women's motorcycle gear, they picture a large retail storefront or rows of shelves inside a massive warehouse. They imagine something like the big brands they've always known.

Every piece of Chic Riot gear starts in a small studio tucked away in the heart of downtown Athens, Georgia. There isn't a production line, or dozens of employees. It's just the two of us, working with our hands, surrounded by rolls of fabric, leather, patterns, sewing machines, and ideas that we're constantly trying to improve.

Athens is known for a lot of things. It's home to the Georgia Bulldogs. It has an incredible music scene that has influenced artists for decades. And in recent years, it's also become known for the Athens Film Festival and a growing creative community. Motorcycle gear isn't exactly the first thing that comes to mind, but maybe one day it will be.

We hope that when people think about Athens, they'll also think about Chic Riot. They'll think about a small company that decided women deserved more than simply shrinking men's gear or settling for the same black jacket everyone else was making.

We hope they'll think about where it all began. Just two people with a dream to put women first in an industry that hasn't always done that.

Running an online business from a small town is an interesting experience. On one hand, the internet allows us to reach riders across the country and around the world. On the other hand, most days we're simply sitting in our little studio, answering emails, cutting fabric, sewing gear, packing orders, and trying to figure out what tomorrow looks like.

There's nothing glamorous about it. It's a lot of trial and error, a lot of learning and a lot of wondering if the next idea is the right one. But that's also what makes this journey meaningful. Every order reminds us that someone, somewhere, believed in what we're building. Every message from a rider wearing our gear reminds us why we started in the first place.

We're still a long way from becoming a household name. We still have a long way to go before we've truly left our mark on the motorcycle industry. But we're still here, still designing, still learning, Still making gear in our little studio in the Fred building downtown Athens.

Still believing that a small company from a college town can create something that reaches far beyond its city limits. Maybe that's what Chic Riot has always been about. Not where we started but proving that where you start doesn't have to limit where you can go.

Whether you've been following us since the beginning or you've just discovered Chic Riot, thank you for being part of our journey. Every order, every share, every comment, and every conversation helps a small team in Athens, Georgia continue building motorcycle gear designed with women at the center.
