It’s a question we get often, especially during riding season. “Why doesn’t Chic Riot have a booth at motorcycle events?” “Are you going to be at ___ this year?” And the honest answer is simple, even if it’s not flashy.
From the beginning, Chic Riot has been a made-to-order women’s motorcycle gear brand. That means when an order is placed, that’s when we begin. We don’t have racks of motorcycle pants and jackets sitting in boxes waiting to be sold. What we have are rolls of raw materials, carefully sourced fabrics, and armor and hardware waiting to be shaped into something specific for one woman. Besides our personal sample pieces that we wear and test ourselves, we don’t carry inventory. That choice wasn’t accidental, it was foundational.
Being environmentally conscious has always been at the forefront of the Chic Riot business model. Producing only what is needed reduces waste, keeping us from overproducing and discounting excess gear just to clear shelves. Even as we look toward future manufacturing, the goal has never been mass production. If anything, we hope to move into thoughtful small-batch runs of women’s motorcycle gear that still honor the original intention.
So, when people picture us setting up a booth at a big bike rally, I understand the vision. A tent with racks of riding pants, women trying on jackets, and conversations happening face to face. It would be beautiful. But our brand wasn’t built for that structure.

Event booths are often a luxury. The large motorcycle gear brands can justify the cost because they are moving high volumes of inventory across distributors and retailers. Travel, lodging, booth fees, display builds, credit card processing systems, staffing, insurance, free swag giveaways; it adds up quickly. For many companies, it’s a strategic marketing expense. For us, it would mean shifting time, money, and energy away from the very thing that makes Chic Riot what it is: custom fit motorcycle pants and jackets made specifically for the woman ordering them.
We’ve had to ask ourselves hard questions: Would setting up at more motorcycle events increase visibility? Yes. Would more women riders see us in person? Absolutely. Would it feel good to stand behind a booth and represent? Of course. But would it require us to operate like a brand we’ve never claimed to be? Also, yes. There’s a tradeoff here.
When we don’t show up at large events, it means some women riders may never stumble across us the way they would a bigger brand, and that part does sting. We would love for more women in the motorcycle community to know that a made-to-order, fit-focused option exists. We would love for more riders to understand that women’s motorcycle gear can be customized instead of compromised.
Chic Riot has always grown organically. No marketing budget, massive ad spends, or inventory clearances. Just one order at a time, one rider at a time, one referral at a time. From followers to sales, everything has been natural. Maybe that means we grow slower than brands with large event presences and we aren’t the loudest booth on the row, but growth for us has never been about volume, but about alignment.
The women who find Chic Riot usually find us intentionally. They are looking for better fitting motorcycle pants. They are tired of gear designed as an afterthought. They want something that feels considered. When they place an order, they want to know it’s being made for them, not pulled from a stack under a folding table at a rally. Maybe one day our structure will look different. Maybe we’ll find a way to show up physically in more spaces without compromising our model. But if we do, it will be because it fits who we are, not because it looks good from the outside.
